Chief Scientific Officer
Johannes Bargehr, is a clinician scientist at the Wellcome-MRC Stem Cell Institute as well as a Cardiology Fellow at the Cardiovascular Division at Addenbrooke’s Hospital at the University of Cambridge.
He qualified from Medical University of Innsbruck before completion of his postgraduate training at the University of Cambridge, where he obtained his MPhil as well as his PhD degree in the Sinha lab. During this time, Johannes spent more than a year in the Murry lab in Seattle, WA. His Cambridge doctoral thesis was published in Nature Biotechnology, for which he was awarded the Bernard and Joan Marshall Young Investigator Award by the British Society of Cardiovascular Research and filed IP on which he was a co-inventor with Profs. Sinha and Murry.
Johannes enjoys working in diverse and international teams and has led several multinational studies in the past. His scientific interest lies in the advancement of diagnostic and therapeutic applications of regenerative cardiovascular medicine. His clinical specialist area of interest is advanced heart failure.
